on missing a friend

Yesterday i was watching "The Shawshank Redemption" the umpteenth time and totally fell in love with one of the dialogues by Morgan Freeman. I don't know why the dialogue never registered before. Anyways, it went something like this:

Some birds are just not meant to be caged. Their feathers are so bright that when they flap them the cage dissolves in their light. Yet it is that when they are freed, it leaves a void in the heart of the sinner who caged them. I miss you my friend.

If I was to tell about a friend I truly miss, I would unabashedly quote this.
